U8 V Ashfield & East Retford

This was a three way event with Ashfield and East Retford

Game 1
Mansfield v Ashfield
Again Mansfield seem to turn up ready for the fixture and quickly got into stride scoring with some super running and tagging. Achieving a number of turnovers, with a new squad rotation in operation the whole team as was used Mansfield won simply

Game 2
Mansfield v East Retford
Mansfield played well in this game, being a tougher match then the 1st East Retford quickly got into an 8-4 lead by half time. Having this pointed out to them and some good communication from Rowan the whole squad turn it on playing some of the year’s best rugby in the second half to come out winning 14-12

Game 3
After a break to allow Ashfield to play East Retford, Mansfield was back in action. The break seemed to break our concentration with Ashfield playing a better game and the guys having to dig deep to win 14-13.

Game 4
This was played against East Retford, who had rested during our previous game. By now the day was starting to tell on some of the players and East Retford achieve an 8-4 win

‘Player of the Day Award’-: Rowan.

The U8s have presented Mansfield RFC to the highest level, with praise being constantly attributed from opposition coaches for their fair play and honesty while playing rugby to their best. This season they have achieved 8 wins, 5 draws and only lost 2 games all year, excluding festivals.
