Mansfield U15 v Belper

It was a bright and sunny day at Eakring road for the last home game of the season.
And the Mansfield boys were very much up for the game and we were going to play all the lads that don't normally get a full game and no disrespect to Belper but as a squad we don't have a weak player.
Belper turned up and looked very much up for the game as their warm up showed.
Mansfield had a new kicker this week due to an injury to our normal one.
The match got on the way and straight off the Mansfield boys should intent by playing fast flowing rugby getting to the break down fast and recycling the ball and moving it out along the backs.
Belper putting up a defence trying to slow Mansfield down. As a break came they moved the ball quickly into the hands of Josh Dooley who broke away with Belper chasing him as he goes over for the Try, No conversion
Mansfield 5 - 0 Belper
Belper restart with a low kick which is taken well by Mansfield who run it back at Belper a good tackle brings the Mansfield player down and they manage to turn the ball over and start to drive the ball forward as they pass down the line they send a floating pass which Eliot Hawkins picks off and has a clear run Try. Conversion by Brad Vale.
Mansfield 12 - 0 Belper
Belper restart again using a low kick again taken well and put pressure back on Belper Mansfield are moving well but lose the ball to Belper who move it back and send along kick up field our fullback takes the ball well and runs for open ground drawing Belper player's in onto him and as he is tackled he passes a great ball out which is moved quickly pushing forward then a little mistake and Belper come away with the and break the Mansfield line and go over for a well taken Try and Conversion.
Mansfield 12 - 7 Belper.
Mansfield restart with a high and long kick down to Belper's 22 and as they gathered the ball and turned a Mansfield back was on top of him quickly followed by two other's and get a scrum for not releasing. Mansfield secured the ball from a well taken scrum and move the ball quickly working well in rucks keeping control of the ball Will Heyes see's a gap and goes over for a Try. Conversion by Brad Vale.
Mansfield 19 - 7 Belper.
Belper restart again using a low kick which Mansfield control again attacking hard and Mansfield break through with some great play as again Will Heyes goes over for the Try. Conversion by Brad Vale
Mansfield 26 - 7 Belper.
Again Belper restart this time with a high kick but short easily taken by Mansfield who are now really on the front foot the ball goes out for a lineout to Belper but Mansfield win the ball back today the backs are taking the ball at speed Sam Troop goes over for the Try. Conversion by Brad Vale
Mansfield 33 - 7 Belper
Belper restart using a low kick again which is taken but Belper get to the receiver and tackle well a ruck forms as Mansfield protect the ball as Belper are throwing player's at the ruck as Mansfield pick and drive. The whistle goes Mansfield player in from the side. Belper use this and kick for touch at the lineout Belper secure the ball and go on the attack Mansfield are up for the test and hold them out forcing Belper back until the whistle goes not releasing the ball Mansfield take the penalty quickly taking the ball forward as Belper are not back 10 so gain a lot of ground before a tackle stops them but the ruck is strong Owen Hopewell makes a strong run making great ground passing the ball on Owen Stevenson takes the ball over Try. No conversion
Mansfield 38 - 7 Belper
Soon after the restart and with Belper attacking and Mansfield defending well the ball goes dead the whistle goes ending the first half.

Second half starts and after quite a few changes in the Mansfield side. Mansfield continue with the same attacking strength with great ground work and tackling from all the team pushing forward in a controlled way the reward soon comes with great attacking backs play with the forwards doing a great job at breakdowns drawing player's in then the ball moves out to the left wing to Sam Troop who hears a call as Sean Wallis comes behind him a perfect pass as he goes over for the Try. No conversion.
Mansfield 43 - 7 Belper
Belper restart but again trying the low bouncing ball Mansfield take the ball well and evade the incoming tackle moving quickly good sharp passing by the boys strong runs from everyone punching holes through Belper's line as the ball goes to Will Heyes who clears the line and goes over for his third Try of the day. No conversion.
Mansfield 48 - 7 Belper
Belper restart using the low bouncing kick but this time as Mansfield go to gather they knock on. Scrum to Belper who secure the ball and with some clever play move the ball and find a gap and they break through with a good run for the Try. No conversion
Mansfield 48 - 10 Belper
Restart by Belper high ball gathered in well and Mansfield was on the attack again quick snappy passing by the boys trying to keep the ball alive and moving. Belper putting up a good defence playing really well against a hard hitting playing Mansfield side then from a really well worked move Chris Swayne goes over for a Try. No conversion.
Mansfield 53 - 10
Belper restart the game and ball is taken well again moved quickly and the backs were flying the forwards covering the moves with Isaac Harris directing the forwards, Belper really on the back foot as the forwards pick and drive their way down the field. As Sam Campbel gets the ball and drive's over for a Try. No conversion.
Mansfield 58 - 10 Belper
Belper restart the kick is good with a good chase keeping Mansfield back in there half and manage to turn the ball over and started testing Mansfield defence again which remains strong keeping Belper out as Belper were putting bodies in all over as Mansfield clear a ruck out and turn the ball over and kick long clearing the line and with a great follow up chase putting there receiver under pressure whistle goes for not releasing the ball penalty taken quickly and moved well out to Josh Straw who goes over for the Try. No conversion.
Soon after this the whistle goes for full-time.
The game was played in a great spirit and respect. A big thank you to Belper for coming to Mansfield they gave the Mansfield boys a good match.
We still have something's to work on but we are getting more and more positives, you are now looking were your support player's are and covering one another.
This was another great game to watch seeing you all improving. You
all had a great game strong running and tackling by you all keep it going into the last game.
