Report by I Wallis

It was sunny and bright as Mansfield arrived at Barton. 15 players made the journey to play a much changed Barton team. Who have improved their game to an attacking game and you all showed true grit and determination of character as they gave you a great test for your defence, which was very strong.
As Barton moved the ball well they got it out to there right winger who was very quick Owen Stevenson did get a tackle on him bringing him down but with the ground wet and muddy he slid over the Try line he did well to control the ball for a Try. No conversion
Barton did try this a few times after but you closed him out of the game which was great to see.
Barton 5 - 0 Mansfield

Mansfield took the restart with a great kick and chase putting Barton onto the back foot. Your scum was strong as again were your lineouts keeping Barton defending and not long after Barton's Try Chris Swayne went over for a Try from a well worked move No Conversion
Barton 5 - 5 Mansfield

Barton restarted and Mansfield took the ball well and came straight back at Barton keeping the pressure on them. But with a few ball handling errors Barton got down into Mansfield 22 on a couple of occasions. Yet your defence was up to it and you played your way out forcing Barton back with some fantastic rugby all of you putting your body's on the line for your teammates.
Forcing Barton back as you moved the ball well out to your left wing and Owen Hopewell-Bond playing strongly went over for a Try. No conversion
Barton 5 - 10 Mansfield

Barton restarted and the kick was to long for their chase so Mansfield took the ball easily and kept the pressure on Barton as very strong tackles were going in on Barton as you had been doing since the start of the game.
Then with around 3 minutes to go of the first half the referee blow his whistle as Barton had a player down.
Which turned out to be a back injury so a ambulance was called after a while the decision was made and the game was abandoned at half-time
With the score
Barton 5 - 10 Mansfield.
Very well played to all the 15 players who made the trip. And a return game has been pencilled in for the 17th April 16 which should be an enjoyable match to watch.
Well done to Chris Swayne on his MoM.
