Report by Colin Harriman
NLD matches return to Mansfield.
The recent rain had abated for the match leaving a very wet and heavy pitch as the players set themselves ready for the important task ahead.
Both teams seemed to be similar in stature and weight in the pack.
For the first 8 minutes the game was very 50/50 with ball passing from side to side before Oliver Riddell catches the ball from a deep kick into Mansfield s 22m line, he then sets off at his usual blistering pace down the left wing shaking off 2 tacklers before being held up on the line unable to ground the ball.
Then the match swung Market Rasens way for the rest of the match. Despite Mansfield putting up a solid defence Market Rasen showed great expertise in passing of the ball from centre to sides and back in again.
Market Rasen scored 5x trys unconverted and 3x converted trys.
All of the Market Rasen players played well but their Number 8 was exceptional and is certainly somebody to lookout for in the future.
Whether the 3 week lack of game time had taken its toll on Mansfield’s usual team play or the excited expectation of Santas imminent arrival we will never know.
Time to regroup on the training pitch next Tuesday.
Thanks to Market Rasen team, coaching staff and parents we look forward to a rematch at a later date
