A Game of 2 Halfs

After a strong couple of weeks of rugby the coaches wanted to challenge the boys, so we asked some of the players to play in positions which they had not played before along with 3 debuts the boys took to the pitch to play a strong Market Rasen team.

As the whistle went we found it a little hard to get going but started to get a grip of our shape, and were soon having to defend with everything, we had to try and keep Market Rasen from crossing the line but with all the pressure on us we cracked a little missing some tackles in midfield which led to them crossing the line first to record their 1st try quickly followed by 2 more tries Market Rasen started to pull away from us but credit to the lads we started to put in the tackles to then get some of the ball of our own which led to Market Rasen scrambling to keep us out with some good tackling we just couldn't find our way over the line, then the final 10 minutes we lost our way again and Market Rasen capitalized and topped their score up with another 3 tries as the half came to an end to score stood at 30-0.

After a little chat at half time we knew we had a massive task on to get back into the game, but we had confidence in each other that we could turn the game around and right from the whistle we started to go through the gears with massive hits and big scrums we dragged ourselves into the game, Lucas started the score board moving with a strong run through the defence quickly followed with Oskar bulldozing his way over GAME ON with Toby leading from the front smashing tackles all over the pitch, Market Rasen looked a little shell shocked and finding it tough to keep the ball, Mansfield found yet another gear to kick on, Happy feet found the ball in his hands and as LES would say its a 10 from me he danced his way over to start the come back, step up Toby to beat 6 defenders on a big run to get over followed by a powerful run from Reece through their 22m to get us within 1 try to level the score which Lucas soon went on a big run brushing tackle after tackle away to level the score with 10 minutes left on the clock, Oskar again powered away from a ruck to grab his 2nd of the game with Kyros adding another to take his total to 2 tries for the game with a big mention for Taylor who seemed to cover every bit of ground all game his powerful tackles and aggressive rucking took Mansfield to another level it was left to Alfie to round off a masterclass of rugby with a good run bouncing tacklers off to go under the posts.

Today was definitely a game of 2 halves and the determination from resilience of the team was of the highest order.
WELL DONE
MOM Taylor who worked tirelessly through out the game really gave the team a extra gear with his Tackling and hard work he wouldn't have looked out of place on the pitch yesterday at Welford road.
DOD Jackson for forgetting his shirt and getting a little stressed
