NLD Cup

We welcomed Mellish Rufc to Earking road for a group E fixture with us siting in 2nd place with a game in hand, it gave us a chance to go back on the top of the group.
After a good warm up we started the game well moving the ball through the hands out to the wing finding Lucas with space, he stretched his legs to get us our 1st try within 2 minutes, followed by Toby showing good footwork to cut open the defence and go over for a good 2nd try. Mellish hit back with a try themselves showing that we were in for a tough game we started to show real class moving the ball through the hands causing Mellish some real problems then popped up William on the wing to go on a strong run to score in the corner, Kai had is 1st start in the centres and found some space after a show and go he showed good speed, out pacing the defence to score, the forwards started to put some pods together which found Myles the captain for the day capping off the half with a powerful drive over the line.

2nd half saw Mellish come out strong out rucking us we started to miss tackles which led to them scoring 3 tries in the first 10 minutes putting us under real pressure, we had to find a way to get back into the game and the lads pulled together and started to take control back. Again we moved the ball with speed we soon found are scoring boots again first Lucas got his brace quickly followed by William getting his 2nd try which took the fight out of a strong Mellish side with them scoring a last try with the last play of the game.
Final score Mansfield 35 Mellish 25.
MOM Kai who played like he as played rugby for years with good passing, tackling and the awareness to find gaps in the defence as well as getting a try WELL DONE KAI
