U9s NLD Qualifiers

Two weeks on from our last visit to Nottingham Corsairs, we were back there again, this time for an NLD Qualifying tournament.  Thankfully the rain held off, however, it was the lads first real taste of 'rugby weather', with mud, and lots of it.  Mansfield entered two teams and the prize for 8 of the 15 teams participating was a place in the NLD Finals. 
 
Both Mansfield teams kicked off proceedings, with matches against Newark on one pitch, and Ashfield on the other.  Both games were hard fought, especially the Ashfield game. The match against Newark was drawn, and the match against Ashfield was won.  A good start by both teams. Throughout the rest of the morning and early afternoon, both teams went on to win two of their matches and lose one.  This resulted in both teams qualifying to the Finals in March, where they will play the best teams that Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and the rest of Nottinghamshire have to offer.  This was a great result for the squad, with excellent team performances being seen - they not only played with each other, but played for each other too.  The squad seems to be improving week on week, with the lads becoming more comfortable with the contact game. 
Still certain areas to work and improve on to fine tune the performance, however, the Mansfield U9 squad is in a great place.  Brilliant achievement on Sunday lads.  Well done to all.
