Tired and bleary-eyed, due to the early start for a Sunday, we turned up at Nottingham Corsairs RFC. Luckily, that was just the parents, and the lads themselves were raring to go.
For all three teams, it is still early in their contact rugby lives, however, all teams played with commitment and keen to show how well they were adapting.
In terms of overall performance, Mansfield played well. In parts it was brilliant, however, silly mistakes meant that the brilliance didn't overbear the opposition. All matches played were a great spectacle, with some good running rugby combined with some hard hitting defensive tackles.
The matches, in terms of scoring, were pretty even, with the focus being on the performance and adapting to the new format, rather than on winning or losing. Lots to work on in training next week, in preparation for the forthcoming NLD tournament, however, not in terms of commitment and enjoyment. Overall, a great team performance. Well done lads.
