This was a tame game for a local derby but was a good spectators game played in great spirit with many a friend amongst both sides including the referee, an ex Ollerton and Mansfield player himself, the not so young Richard Soar, who had an outstanding game with the whistle.

Unfortunately it was Mansfield who had the lions’ share of possession and territory. The vast experience of the Mansfield side on the day was too much for the young Ollerton side that were short of a few key players on the day. It was still a good contest where both sides competed well and put in some good plays.

Mansfield also fielded a couple of debutants on the day from the Colts in way of Ben Gwillim who played 10 and Jackson Clark who ran a wing. Both lads did their club proud and didn’t look a miss amongst some very experienced team mates.

Tries came from Roberts, Rushby, Davies, Walters and Crookes and very nearly one from Newbould who is still hunting his first try of the season.

One more game before Xmas before a well deserved rest. Settling at 3rd in the league so far in the season could see Mansfield 3rds finish their highest in some years.
