Report by D Blake

There were heightened levels of anticipation leading into the final game of 2017 for the girls as it was an RFU cup game against Newark.

Leading into the game the omens looked good, the warm up was full of intensity, the u18’s had just played brilliantly against Ashfield & Sophie McCrone had been sick behind a tree!!!

The game started with a blast as the girls regained possession after the kick off, they played through a couple of phases that ended with the familiar site of Megan Adair beating her opposite number on the right wing to touch down in the corner, a great start that set the game tempo.

Further try’s from Kendal & Katy meant we went into the half time break full of confidence.

Newark to their credit gave it everything in the 2 nd half, this was in spite of 3 girls being taken off injured. Special mention goes their fullback who made tackle after tackle and didn’t stop doing so until the end, great stuff.

The Mansfield girls didn’t stop going forward & supported each other well as they ran in a further 6 try’s in the 2 nd half completing a very well fought 53 – 0 victory.

The New Year see’s the girls travel to Burton for their 1 st fixture of 2018 on the 7 th of January then at home for the next round of the RFU cup on the 14 th against Ashby.

It’s been a great start to the 2017/ 18 season, well done to the girls & thanks to the coaches, parents & club officials for your support.

Merry Christmas from the Mansfield U15 girls
