The coaches initially had to deal with several positive problems with numerous new players forcing their way into the team selection following their great efforts over the past weeks in the numerous development friendly games that the team has played in. However it was Lutterworth's big and powerful pack that proved to be the biggest test for the team in the first half of the game and a stout defensive display by Mansfield whilst Lutterworth used the slope of the pitch to their advantage was impressive to watch.
The second half allowed Mansfield to use their expansive game to exploit spaces in the Lutterworth defence and seal the game with numerous excellent tries.
Tries by Cope, Tasker, Markland & Waudby and conversions by Tasker sealed an impressive 45 - 10 win.

Credit should be passed to the Lutterworth team who never gave up and played some excellent rugby throughout.

Big thanks should finally be given to Darren Topliss & Jayne Bailey who cared for an injured Lutterworth player who suffered a nasty neck injury whilst awaiting the ambulance to arrive. The Lutterworth player who was initially feared to have a severe neck injury has since been confirmed as having lesser injuries and is now making a full and swift recovery.
