The players who managed to drive through the snow in the Mansfield area arrived to find that the snow had melted away by the afternoon to leave a pitch that could have easily been a scene from the front line in World War 1.
Low on our normal numbers due to the snow, the girls merged in with some of the Long Eaton players to play Leek.
With several new faces in the team and having to adjust to the extremely muddy conditions the Mansfield players gave 100%.
Leek U13 Girls stole the first half initiative and scored early whilst Mansfield adjusted to the conditions.
However the second half was a lot closer affair with Mansfield placing Leek under good pressure and restricting their offensive game.
However it was Leek that took the honours at the final whistle and well deserved it was too, 5 - 35.
Both teams blended together in a picture of mud at the end of the game which was hailed as a great experience for all teams who all fielded players of varying experience.
Thanks to all the supportive parents in getting the players to this fixture and thanks to Leek for being worthy opponents and Long Eaton for being excellent hosts.
