We at Mansfield Rugby Club are saddened to hear the news that long standing member John Abbey has passed away. Our thoughts are with his wife Jacqui and children James and Samantha at this difficult time.
Club Chairman Pete Steffen says, ”John was a true gentleman and revered by everyone at the club. He was a team captain for many years and was held in the highest of esteem by his peers. In later years, even though he moved away from the area, he still toured with us keeping in touch with his ‘club’ friends and always attended the annual dinner. Such a friendly character, who always had a smile on his face, he will be sorely missed by everyone. “
