Following a great deal of effort, hard work and planning I am delighted to tell you that Mansfield Rugby Club has been awarded Whole Club Seal of Approval recognition! We are the first club in the Midlands to achieve this and I believe only the second in the country (to be confirmed). As you know, Whole Club recognition is an extension and enhancement of the Mini & Youth Seal of Approval award, which we have held for the last few years.
The Whole Club Seal of Approval accreditation was only introduced this year as a method of ensuring high quality provision of rugby in the whole of the organisation and not just the mini and youth section. It is designed to build on the established procedures of Mini and Youth Seal of Approval already held.
The process has involved the club being formally assessed by the RFU where we must be able to provide evidence of good practice in areas such as club management, player development and recruitment, child protection, sports equity, coaching, refereeing as well as recruiting and management of volunteers.
This is a significant achievement and together with our Investors in People status (which we were successfully reassessed for in June) says a great deal about the club and those involved in ensuring that we live up to our mission statement of providing the best possible environment for playing, training and coaching that we can.
I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the administration of this process within the club and also recognise the excellent work done on our behalf by our Rugby Development Officer Pete Shaw, whose help in pulling together the evidence file and ensuring we had all the right bits in all the right places was invaluable.
We are currently in the throws of organising our Valuing the Volunteer day, which is scheduled to be held on Saturday 19th September and this would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate this together with our recent IIP reaccreditation – more details to follow.
