Mansfield Colts remain unbeaten in the N.L.D. league with a comprehensive victory away at Loughborough 52-0.
The first half was dominated by Mansfield who ran in nine unanswered tries and after Ross Elms had converted the third try, they declined further kicks at goal to leave them 47-0 ahead. In the first couple of minutes a scrum against the head allowed the ball to be played out wide for Ryan Hough to score in the corner. This was quickly followed by a score for Tommy Blythe who received the ball after the forwards secured possession from the Loughborough kick-off.
After a couple more minutes a penalty in their 22 allowed Mansfield to release quick ball to Hough for a sprint to the line for his second. Jordan Bettridge then powered his way through the Loughborough defence for the fourth try and a brace from Jonathan Fox followed as he beat the defence to a chip over the top for the first and received the ball out wide, after the forwards secured the ball from a line-out just inside the home teams half, for his second.
A jinking run from Adam Shaw saw him beat three defenders to score the seventh, with Hough collecting his third and fourth after some unselfish work by Ryan Croll to bring the half to a close.
Within a few minutes of the start of the second half the Mansfield forwards brought the game to a close after they caught a line-out ball and drove over for Bettridge to get the important touch.
Although the Loughborough lads were outplayed they never let their heads drop and must be praised for the way then battled.
