Mansfield Colts were well represented in the NLD U18 side which won the Midlands Under-18 Championship by beating defending champions North Midlands 13-7 in Sunday’s final at Broadstreet RFC near Coventry . NLD played a sensible pick-and-drive game in difficult conditions which helped them prevail against a North Midlands who had won the title for the last two years.

NLD's only try came from centre Jack Bradford with Mansfield ’s John-Ross Ward adding the conversion; Fly-half James Stokes kicked two penalties. Other Mansfield representatives were Adam Shaw, Joe Symcox, Jonno Cordin, Toby Lieber, John Revill and Ryan Hough who now have a nervous wait to see if they have progressed with the Midlands selectors due to announce their squad on November 13.

With their representative players away and a number of others unavailable, a combined Mansfield Colts and U17 side entertained a physical Barnsley Colts at Eakring Road on Sunday eventually loosing 19-12. Mansfield tries came from a superb individual effort by winger Michael Weston and Flanker Jordan Betteridge rounding off an outstanding second half personal performance, Jordan Bailey added a conversion.
