IIP

19th June 2009

Following our Investors in People assessment during the course of this week, I am delighted to announce that we have been highly recommended to maintain our status as an IIP organisation. I would like to offer my thanks and congratulations to everyone for their hard work and to those who were involved in the assessment process and attended an interview with our Assessor.

Our Assessor was indeed very impressed with what she found and commented that the club has evolved very positively over the years during her visits, which are every three years. It is also worthy of note that in many areas it was observed that not only did we come up to the required standard but we far exceeded it to the point where our systems and culture would stand up to scrutiny against many of the best corporate organisations, which is all the more impressive when you consider we are a volunteer organisation.

Clearly there are things that we can do better and there were suggestions that we can start work on immediately, so there’s no chance of getting carried away thinking we’ve arrived, as it were, because there are always areas where we can improve – however, we should enjoy the moment and take the time to feel pleased with what we have achieved as a club.

This recognition is not to be underestimated. It is worth remembering that our IIP status has been instrumental in the club be able to attract significant funding for a number of capital projects over the last few years including the all weather rubber crumb pitch and the floodlights. This, together with our RFU Seal of Approval standard indicates to funding bodies that we are a serious club that has developed standards and maintained them - this gives them the confidence to invest in us as an organisation.

Next March sees the 10th anniversary of Mansfield Rugby Club becoming an Investors In People organisation and many of you will recall that we were the first amateur rugby club in the country to achieve this – more on our celebrations for that event in due course…

Congratulations and well done again to one and all!
